Blimps are actually airships, and that is super cool because it is hella steampunk. I want blimps to become affordable and safe, so then we can all just fly around them in our leisure time. And it doesn't matter if they crash because of their doughy, balloony texture--they just bounce harmlessly off one another like tennis balls made of playdough.

Oh, the Humanity! Because, you know, if a blimp were to explode when it crashed, that would be quite inhumane. ‘Oh, the in-humanity!’ Add that to our list of historical events to change when we get a working time machine. Glad you brought up airships, though. I think part of the appeal is that you can float around while enjoying the view along the way to your destination — or with no destination in mind. People talk about enjoying the journey as much as the destination, but then they build swifter and swifter aircraft with tiny windows. No need for windows when you're riding the jetstreams. It's like being a Machinist's Mate on an aircraft carrier. Nothing to see or do out in the middle of the sea, so there's really no loss being stuck in the powerplant all the time. At least I could listen to the soothing ocean sounds out on the smoking sponson, with our additive–laden cigarettes… Oops, better jump off the train of consciousness now. I've been working out ways to make an airship safe for steampunk and other fantasy–esque LARPing since we talked. Too bad that wasn't a priority years ago, or I could be flying it right now. What kind of airship would be best? I think you'd want an open weatherdeck, so you'd probably have a bag fastened overtop the freely hanging keel.
